Sybil Shocolee’s debut album, simply called ‘Sybil Shocolee’, was released digitally and can be found on Soundcloud, Bandcamp,
Reverbnation and Myspace. It contains 12 tracks, 8 of which have previously been available on these platforms. The four new tracks continue with her approach of covering traditional folk songs and soft rock mainly from the 70s. The music can be heard on the music page of this website or on any of the sites mentioned above.
Carole MacNaughton’s debut album, called Autumn, was released digitally some 14 months after it was first available on CD and can be found on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Reverbnation and Myspace. It contains 11 tracks, 4 of which have previously been available on these platforms. There are four completely new tracks and three alternative versions of tracks. All tracks are originals by Carole and display both her ability as a pianist and as a composer. Although these tracks are instumental, they are all songs as well and we are still looking for the right person to sing them. So, if you hear them, like them and think that your vocal could enhance them, get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to hear from you!
We are pleased to announce the first releases in demo form by Ro Lo. There are two tracks, one original and one cover. The original is called Rainbow and the cover you will all recognise as Always On My Mind. The tracks have been released in demo form only because the vocal is not yet up to scratch and we are looking for a singer to add the finishing touch. If you think it could be you, get in touch. The details are on the contact page.
Another announcement that we are very pleased to make. Lane Records has its first video on YouTube. It supports the music track that has proved our most popular so far: Sybil Shocolee’s Windmills Of Your Mind. You can watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGMtuj2QHHE or from our video page.
And to follow right along from our last piece of news, here is our second video. This supports our second most popular track, Shirley Moore’s You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me. You can watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwfw3z6htny or by going to our video page.
We have new music to tell you about from another new name on our artist roster. They go by the name of Grab Bag and there are two tracks for you to listen to. The first is an original song called Only Love and the second is a cover of the big selling Cliff Richard record of years past, We Don’t Talk Anymore. You can hear these songs by following the links above to Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Reverbnation or Myspace or by simply following this link to our music page.
This month sees the arrival of our third video. It features another of Sybil Shocolee’s tracks, The Bold Grenadier, which has been one of our most popular over the past year. You can see it on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIEw5-
New music from a new artist! The name is Sizzle and the track is called Be Upbeat and it is a commentary on the human condition in 2014. Check it out on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Reverbnation and Myspace via the buttons above or go to one of our music pages as follows: music from soundcloud or music from bandcamp.
More news of Sizzle. The single, Be Upbeat, which was released during September has now also appeared on a lot more web sites. For the first time, Lane Records has music on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, Google Play and many more. Look out for it on your favourite streaming site or your preferred seller of digital music.
What can I say but better late than never? Sizzle have finally delivered the track that should have been released with Be Upbeat back in September. It is their version of Queen’s iconic Bohemian Rhapsody. You will probably pleased to hear that they have taken a totally different approach to the song that the classic original. And indeed it bears little relation to the version recently heard on the current series of X Factor. Try it, you might like it. You can find it on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Reverbnation and Myspace or on this site on these pages: music from soundcloud or music from bandcamp.
Some new music from Lane Records and it is another new band. This one goes by the name of In Denial and have produced two tracks for you. In normal Lane Records fashion, one is an original and one a cover. The original is called When You Lose All Desire and the cover is a version of the Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night. In Denial wanted to cover a Beatles track but so many of them have been recorded by so many people! The only version they came across of this track was a version by Peter Sellers in full Shakespearian mode so they thought this was a fair choice! As usual you can find the tracks on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Reverbnation and Myspace or on this site on the following pages: music from soundcloud or music from bandcamp.
Oh, what happened to 2015? We have been lax in updating our website during the course of this year, so let’s summarise what has happened, so far…
In May, Jodba released the original song, Wisdom, and a cover of Michael Jackson’s Earth Song.
In July, a video was made available for Shirley Moore’s version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.
That month was also the second anniversary of the launch of Lane Records. Hey, happy birthday, us!
Later that month, Ringer Six released Rest Now, an original song. This was followed by their version of U2’s With Or Without You.
In August, we put all the available Lane Records music on YouTube. That was a total of 47 tracks at the time of which 43 were audio only.
In September, we launched some music on the major streaming services. As it has been the favourite Lane Records track virtually throughout the last two years, our first track was Sybil Shocolee’s Windmills Of Your Mind which became available to stream on Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music et all and available as a paid download on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play etc.
In October, there was more new music; this time from Maybe Jays who released Hard To Believe (original) and their version of David Bowie’s Fame.
During November, a second Lane Records song made it’s to streaming and downloading services. This was Shirley Moore’s You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me, our second favourite track from the last two years.
We also announced that we were blogging about other people’s music with a matching playlist available on Spotify. The weekly blog can be at soundsgooduk.wordpress.com.
OK, that has brought us up to date….and now for December.
